GULFSTREAM TODAY 2.20.20

Late Pick 5 Carryover Generates Nearly $2.5 Million in Betting

Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $150,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A Late Pick 5 carryover of $203,726 at Gulfstream Park generated enthusiastic wagering Thursday on the 50-cent wager with a 15-percent takeout. A total of $2.497,590 was bet into pool for the multi-race wager that spanned Races 6-10,

Multiple tickets with all five winners were each worth $2,768.45.

There no tickets sold Sunday with all five winners of the final five races on the card, producing the attractive carryover for Thursday’s program.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6, which was hit Monday for a $1.2 million jackpot payoff, went unsolved Thursday, when multiple tickets with all six winners (Races 5-10) were each worth $5,042.18.

There will be a guaranteed jackpot pool of $150,000 for Friday’s program.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that days’ pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Races 7, a mile optional claiming allowance on turf, and Race 10, a mile turf race for $25,000 maiden claimers, will also be included in the Friday’s Stronach 5, a multi-race, multi-track wager with a $100,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low $12-percent takeout.

Race 8 at Laurel will kick off the Stronach 5 action at approximately 3:50 p.m., followed by Race 7 at Gulfstream, Race 3 at Golden Gate Fields, Race 3 at Santa Anita and Race 10 at Gulfstream.

Who’s Hot: Apprentice Cristian Torres doubled Thursday aboard Keilani ($5.80) in Race 3 and Baby Ice ($15.40) in Race 7.

Paco Lopez scored back-to-back wins aboard Memorable Election ($13.20) in Race 8 and Flat Awesome Jenny ($5,60) in Race 9.

Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool: $150,000 Guaranteed (Friday):
