GULFSTREAM TODAY 3.5.20

Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $700,000

Gulfstream Park Anchors Weekly Stronach 5 Wager (Video)

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have a guaranteed pool of $700,000 when live racing returns to Gulfstream Park with a 10-race program Friday, March 6.

First-race post time is 1 p.m.

Multiple tickets with all six winners Thursday each returned $5,524.52.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent in carried over to the jackpot pool.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 5-10, four on the turf, including a pair of allowance sprints in Races 7 and 9. The popular multi-race wager has been solved four times during the 2019-20 Championship Meet, including payoffs of $1,208,573.86 Feb. 17 and $468,945.41 Feb. 27.

Gulfstream Park will anchor the weekly national Stronach 5 wager with Friday’s ninth race, a five-furlong turf sprint allowance for fillies and mares 4 and up that drew a field of nine led by 5-2 program favorite Awsum Roar.

Stronach 5 All Star Ticket:

The Stronach 5 begins with Races 8 and 9 from Laurel Park (3:49, 4:23 p.m. EST) and continues with Race 2 from Santa Anita Park (4:32 p.m. EST) and Race 3 from Golden Gate Fields (5:15 p.m. EST). Gulfstream’s Race 9 has a scheduled post time of 5:19 p.m.

Once again, the Stronach 5 will offer a $100,000 guaranteed pool and features an industry-low 12 percent takeout.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

For the Stronach 5, if a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

Who’s Hot: Jockey Julien Leparoux posted a riding double Thursday, aboard Holy Muchacho ($5.40) in Race 1 and Fiber Optic ($2.60) in Race 7.

Rainbow 6 Pool Guarantee: $700,000
