Hot Springs, Ark. (Monday, June 1, 2020) – Oaklawn is pleased to announce the promotion of Jason Milligan to Vice President of Racing. Milligan, who has been employed by Oaklawn for nearly 26 years, will assume the position immediately.

“We are so happy to have Jason step into the role of Vice President of Racing,” General Manager Wayne Smith said. “Having a career of over 25 years here, 11 as Director of Operations, Jason truly knows the ins and outs of all things Oaklawn. He has worked closely and built great relationships with the racing office, racing officials, and horsemen and we look forward to the knowledge and enthusiasm he will bring.”

Originally hired in 1994, Milligan spent his first two years at Oaklawn in customer service as a Red Coat, before taking a job as a field analyst with the Daily Racing Form. He returned to Oaklawn in 1997 and held various management roles before being named Director of Operations in 2009. Throughout his tenure, Milligan has helped oversee three expansions and has been vital in the daily operations of both racing and gaming.

Milligan, a Hot Springs native, Lake Hamilton graduate and life-long Oaklawn fan, is excited about his new role and helping grow an already strong racing operation.

“I have grown up both personally and professionally here at Oaklawn,” Milligan said. “As a child, I have so many fond memories of coming to watch the horses run. The thrill of racing was something that excited me 40 years ago and is still with me today. Oaklawn is one of the top Thoroughbred racetracks in the country and there is no place I’d rather be. I look forward to using my experience to help Oaklawn continue to achieve a New Level of Racing.”

Milligan and his wife Tiffany were married nine years ago in Oaklawn’s infield winner’s circle. They have one son Hudson and a new puppy Kamo.

Oaklawn’s 117th year of live racing will kick off in January 2021.
