Tiz the Law left little doubt that he is the “Beast in the East” as far the 3-year-old class is concerned with his dominating win in the Belmont Stakes on June 20 in New York.

The top ranks of the division are thinning more with the loss of Maxfield and Wells Bayou, both to injuries, that will take them out of the “Triple Crown picture” this year. Because of this, there is a shakeup in my list, and I’m adding a filly.

Tiz the Law (Constitution) 272 points – ran away from the field in the Belmont Stakes.

Honor A.P. (Honor Code) 120 points – won the Santa Anita Derby.

Authentic (Into Mischief) 100 points – second in the Santa Anita Derby. He didn’t get to the lead and that may have been his problem.

King Guillermo (Uncle Mo) 90 points – second behind Nadal in Arkansas Derby. He may be a Belmont horse.

Dr Post (Quality Road) 60 points – second in Belmont, but didn’t threaten the winner.

Ete Indien (Summer Front) 74 points – third in Florida Derby.

Basin (Liam’s Map) 50 points – second behind Charlatan in Arkansas Derby.

Shivaree (Awesome of Course) 40 points – second in Florida Derby.

Thousand Words (Pioneerof the Nile) 25 points – won Robert Lewis, but hasn’t run in a long time.

Cezanne (Curlin) no points – broke his maiden on June 6 at Santa Anita and needs a point’s race.

Gamine (Into Mischief) no points – won the Acorn and could be a filly looking for roses if she gets into a Derby prep race.

Modernist (Uncle Mo) 70 points – third in Louisiana Derby.
