Entries open today for horses of racing age sale catalog

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 1, 2022) – Keeneland announced today that its November Horses of Racing Age Sale will take place Thursday, Nov. 17, one day after the conclusion of the November Breeding Stock Sale. The single-session auction will start at noon ET to enable trainers and racing entities to complete their morning activities before the sale.

“The success of the Horses of Racing Age portion of the 2021 November Sale coupled with the energy surrounding our April Horses of Racing Age Sale, which was held on the final day of the Spring Meet, confirmed our desire to offer a stand-alone auction for this segment of the market this year,” Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin said. “The strength of the Kentucky racing circuit and elevated purses nationally continue to fuel enthusiasm for owning racehorses. The November Horses of Racing Age Sale offers a great opportunity for horsemen to enhance their racing stables while transitioning to winter racing.”

The 2022 November Horses of Racing Age Sale has its own entry deadlines separate from the November Breeding Stock Sale:

· Entries open Thursday, Sept. 1.

· Entry deadline for the print catalog is Friday, Sept. 30.

· Supplements will be accepted until sale date.

A dynamic online catalog for the sale will feature Daily Racing Form and Equibase past performances along with Thoro-graph and Ragozin sheets, videos and more. Horses will be presented for sale at Keeneland but may be offered from off-site locations upon request.

Keeneland will provide online and phone bidding for buyers who wish to participate remotely.

Recent Horses of Racing Age Sale graduates in November include Grade 1 winners Shedaresthedevil and Combatant, Grade 2 winner Stolen Base and Grade 3 winner Bob and Jackie.

Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale will have 10 sessions starting with a single-day Book 1 on Monday, Nov. 7 and continuing with two sessions in each subsequent book through Wednesday, Nov. 16.

The November Sale immediately follows the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland on Nov. 4-5.
