UNBEATEN MEDORO GOES FOR STAKES HAT TRICK IN SATURDAY’S GIII, $100,000 PROVIDENCIA STAKES FOR 3-YEAR-OLD FILLIES AT 1 1/8 MILES ON TURF

HONOR CODE FILLY IS 3-FOR-3 FOR TRAINER PETER EURTON

ARCADIA, CA (April 17, 2024)—Medoro, a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of stakes victories, looks to continue her winning ways Saturday in the GIII, $100,000 Providencia Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Santa Anita.

Trained by Peter Eurton, Medoro picked up her second stakes win last month when proving much the best in the one-mile China Doll Stakes on turf. Previously, the Honor Code filly won the one-miler Blue Norther on turf by a neck Dec. 29 at Santa Anita.

With her perfect start, Medoro has banked $156,600 for owner C R K Stable. Jockey Antonio Fresu has been aboard for all three victories and again has the call on Saturday.

Shiloh’s Mistress switches to turf following an off-the-board finish in the GIII Santa Ysabel going 1 1/16 miles on dirt March 9 at Santa Anita. Trained by Michael McCarthy, Shiloh’s Mistress previously broke her maiden on synthetic at Turfway Park Jan. 10, portending she could take a liking to the turf.

Owned by Resolute Racing, Shiloh’s Mistress was purchased for $235,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She is 1-1-0 in four starts with $68,233 in earnings. Shiloh’s Mistress will be ridden by Umberto Rispoli for the first time.

The likely pacesetter is Lamporghini for trainer Doug O’Neill. The California-bred by Danzing Candy won a statebred maiden and statebred allowance, both at a mile on turf, in front-running fashion earlier this year at Santa Anita. Most recently, Lamporghini set the pace against open company in a one-mile allowance on turf before being overhauled late to finish second.

Lamporghini races as a homebred for Ed Delaney. She is 2-3-0 in six starts with $123,040 in earnings. Regular rider Edwin Maldonado again has the call Saturday.
