Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $525,000 for Sunday’s Card

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool continued to swell Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the seventh consecutive racing day.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $525,000 Sunday.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including U Lite Up My Life’s bid for a third straight victory in Race 8, a one-turn mile optional claiming allowance for older fillies and mares. The Gerald Bennett trainee is coming off a 3 ¾-length victory in a 6 ½-furlong $25,000 claiming race and a six-length score in a mile-and-40-yard optional claiming allowance, both wins coming at Tampa Bay Downs. U Lite Up My Life, two starts earlier, won a mile $25,000 claiming event at Gulfstream by 7 ½ lengths. The 4-year-old daughter of City of Light is rated second on the morning-line at 8-5 behind Fernando Abreu-trained Broderie, the 6-5 morning-line favorite who hasn’t won in seven starts since going back-to-back a year ago.

The Rainbow 6 mandatory payout that was washed out when nasty weather forced the cancellation of the final seven races on last Sunday’s Championship Meet closing-day card has been re-scheduled for April 13.

The Rainbow 6 carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory-payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the wager’s six-race sequence.
