NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 29, 2025) — After waiting patiently near the back of the 12 older fillies, Donamire Farms’ homebred Big Trouble circled the field and kicked home impressively to score the $100,000 Pan Zareta Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Trained by Greg Foley and piloted by Declan Cannon, Big Trouble covered 5 1/2 furlongs over the turf in 1:02.71.

The Pan Zareta pace heated up as longshot Brunch Punch went to the lead in :21.30, pressured by last year’s winner Accomplished Girl. Relaxing near the back, Big Trouble began a well-timed move in the far turn that sent her widest of the group as both Cart Girl Sam and Serving Time launched bids up the inside. Big Trouble kicked strongly through the wire to win by 2 3/4 lengths over Cart Girl Sam. Serving Time finished third.

Sent off at 4-1, Big Trouble paid $10.40, $4.80 and $3.

The 4-year-old Kantharos filly now has a career record of 16-3-5-3 with $332,243 in lifetime earnings. Big Trouble is a half sibling to the Grade 1 winner Troubleshooting, who is also trained by Foley.

Fair Grounds will be dark Sunday, but live racing resumes Thursday, with a $15,925 carryover in the Late Pick 5 and a $47,502 carryover in the Crescent City 6. First post is 12:45 p.m. CT.
