Perfect Little Miss Curlin Notches Stakes Triple with Futurity

NEW ORLEANS (Jan. 3, 2025) — Coteau Grove Farms’ homebred Little Miss Curlin reasserted her dominance Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots, winning the fillies division of the $100,000 Louisiana Futurity for her third stakes victory of the meet. The win added to her victories in the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie and the Ferguson Memorial.
Trained by Pat Devereux Jr., the Charlatan filly, piloted by Jareth Loveberry, defeated five recently turned 3-year-olds while covering six furlongs in 1:10.64.
Settled fourth on the outside down the backstretch, Little Miss Curlin made a bold, sweeping move on the far turn to contend for the lead at the top of the stretch with Wickedwithbourbon, then took over in the lane to win by 4 3/4 lengths.
“She’s pretty straight forward,” Loveberry said. “She’s coming into herself now and learning to relax. She doesn’t need to make the lead anymore and that makes her ten times better.”
Little Miss Curlin paid $2.10, $2.10 and $2.10.
Undefeated in four starts, Little Miss Curlin has amassed earnings of $230,502.
In Saturday’s colts and geldings division of the $100,000 Louisiana Futurity, Norman Stable’s Mor Force enjoyed a perfect trip and proved six lengths best over odds-on favorite Our Moneyman.
Trained by Jayde Gelner, Mor Force covered six furlongs in 1:10.41 under jockey Isaac Castillo.
After breaking from the rail and finding the pocket, Mor Force tipped out late on the far turn to run down the leaders and hold sway over a game late effort from Our Moneyman.
Mor Force returned $22.40, $4.40, and $2.60.
Mor Force added a second stakes title to his resume, and now owns a career record of 7-3-2-1 with lifetime earnings of $195,302.
