TRINITY, Fla. – Paladin reserved a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs when he won the Risen Star at Fairgrounds on Feb. 14. The son of Gun Runner picked up 50 points with the win and now has 60 points toward a start in the Kentucky Derby.

The Fairgrounds track was playing to speed all day and that made it difficult for Golden Tempo to make up any ground down the stretch once he got rolling late.

I will list the horse, sire, most recent race it was in and the trainer.

Paladin (Gun Runner) won the Risen Star and has two mile-and-an-eighth races under his belt. Trainer Chad Brown.

Renegade (Into Mischief) won the Sam F. Davis. Todd Pletcher.

Nearly (Not This Time) won the Holy Bull at Gulfstream. Todd Pletcher.

Further Ado (Gun Runner) won the Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill. Brad Cox.

Plutarch (Into Mischief) won the Robert B. Lewis. Bob Baffert.

Solitude Dude (Yaupon) won the Swale at Gulfstream. Saffie Joseph Jr.

Golden Tempo (Curlin) third in the Risen Star. Cherie DeVaux.

So Happy (Runhappy) won the San Vicente at Santa Anita. Mark Glatt.

Commandment (Into Mischief) won the Mucho Macho Man. Brad Cox.

Litmus Test (Nyquist) won the Los Alamitos Futurity. Bob Baffert.

Potente (Into Mischief) broke his maiden impressively at Santa Anita on first asking. Bob Baffert.
