Correll’s Corner: Commandment by a nose; Renegade cruises in Arkansas

TRINITY, Fla. – Commandment, The Puma and Chief Wallabee all earned spots in the Kentucky Derby after their 1-2-3 finish in the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. It took a photo to separate Commandment and The Puma with Chief Wallabee a half-length behind.
In the Arkansas Derby, Renegade came from last off the turn to blow by the field and win going away by about six lengths at the end. Silent Tactic was second and also earned enough points to go to the Kentucky Derby.
Early Derby favorite Paladin was reported off the Triple Crown trail by trainer Chad Brown after the colt fractured his right front ankle during a workout on March 28 at Payson Park in Florida.
The Japanese colt Wonder Dean (Dee Majesty) won the UAE Derby and his trainer, Daisuke Takayanagi, said he will head to Louisville. Second-place finisher, Six Speed (Not This Time), also is planning to ship over. Both have enough points to easily make the starting gate.
Renegade (Into Mischief) won the Arkansas Derby. Todd Pletcher.

Potente (Into Mischief) won the San Felipe at Santa Anita. Bob Baffert.
Class President (Uncle Mo) won the Rebel at Oaklawn. Todd Pletcher.
Fulleffort (Liam’s Map) won the Jeff Ruby at Turfway. Brad Cox.
Emerging Market (Candy Ride) won the Louisiana Derby and he may train up to the Derby. Chad Brown.
Incredibolt (Bolt d’Oro) won the Virginia Derby. Riley Mott.
Chief Wallabee (Constitution) was third in the Florida Derby. Bill Mott.
Silent Tactic (Tacitus) was second in the Arkansas Derby. Mark Casse.
