HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot of $385,146.51 will highlight Saturday’s kickoff of the three-day Memorial Day weekend of racing at Gulfstream Park.
The Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 20th consecutive program Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $13,475.62.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Saturday’s six-race sequence will span Races 6-11, including the $100,000 Musical Romance Stakes in Race 9 and the $75,000 Christmas Past Stakes in Race 10.

The seven-furlong Musical Romance, a prep for the $250,000 Princess Rooney (G2) at Gulfstream July 1, will be contested by a field of eight Florida-bred fillies and mares, including graded stakes-placed My Dear Venezuela and Brahms Cat, as well as stakes winners Royal Jewely, R Kinsley Doll and R Girls a Charmer. A pair of Angel Penna Jr.-trained, late-developing 4-year-old fillies, Eva London and Hola Chocolate, are scheduled to make their respective stakes debuts following impressive optional claiming allowance victories.

The Christmas Past, a 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for fillies and mares, attracted a field of 10, including the Mike Maker-trained Susie Bee, a three-time winner over the Gulfstream turf course, multiple-stakes winner Lori’s Store, one of three Marty Wolfson-trained mares entered in the race, and Todd Pletcher-trained Catsadiva, a stakes-placed filly on dirt entered for a debut on turf.

There will also be a $4,576.17 Super Hi-5 carryover heading into Saturday’s card.

Sunday’s 11-race program will feature the Opening Lead Handicap, in which Requite is scheduled to seek his fourth victory at Gulfstream without a loss, while Monday’s special Memorial Day card will be highlighted by the Home of the Brave Starter Handicap, in which Claiming Crown Emerald winner Keystoneforvictory will chase his fifth straight win over the Gulfstream Park turf course.

Apprentice Franklin Ceballos Rides First U.S. Winner

Franklin Ceballos, a 10-pound apprentice from Venezuela, rode his first winner in the U.S. Friday at Gulfstream Park, guiding the Wesley Ward-trained Lounge Act ($6.40) to a front-running triumph in the fourth race.

Lounge Act, who scored by 7 ½ lengths in the five-furlong maiden race for 2-year-old fillies, was the 18-year-old jockey’s fourth mount in the U.S.

Ceballos, who is represented by agent Oscar Sanchez, reported that he had won four races in Venezuela before venturing to South Florida.
