HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 29th consecutive racing card at Gulfstream Park Thursday, producing a carryover jackpot of $763,003.26 for Friday’s 2:15 p.m. twilight program.

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $3,260.86 Thursday.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 Sequence will span Races 4-9, including the $50,000 Ocala Flame Handicap in Race 8. The 6 ½-furlong overnight handicap for 3-year-olds attracted a field of six, including Coronado Again, the 119-pound high weight who finished fourth in the Opening Lead May 28 after romping in an entry-level allowance. Chatiment, who finished third behind Coronado Again in the May 28 race after finishing second behind Classic Rock in the Roar Stake, and Benefactor, an impressive Todd Pletcher-trained maiden winner last time out, are also entered.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,104.87 heading into Friday’s program.

Belmont Stakes Card Offers Multiple Local Rooting Interests

Advance wagering on Saturday’s Belmont Park program, highlighted by the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1), will be available at Gulfstream Park Friday.

The 13-race card includes 10 stakes (nine graded) that offer multiple local rooting interests, most notably Graham Motion-trained Belmont Stakes entrant Irish War Cry, who captured the Holy Bull (G2) at Gulfstream Park in January.

Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2) victor Sharp Azteca is scheduled to make his first start since finishing third in the Godolphin Mile (G2) in Dubai, topping a Met Mile (G1) field that also includes Mohayman, the 2016 Holy Bull and Fountain of Youth (G2) winner.

Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) winner Salty and Florida Fabulous, who won her first two starts by a combined 14 ½ lengths at Gulfstream, are slated to run in the Acorn (G1).

Suwannee River (G3) winner Dickinson is slated to square off against Celestine, the Honey Fox (G2) winner in the Just a Game (G1). Mac Diarmida victor Wake Forest and Pan American (G2) winner Sadler’s Joy are scheduled to face off in the Manhattan (G1). Classic Rock, a winner of three straight races at Gulfstream Park, is entered in the Woody Stephens (G2). Silks, Gulfstream Park’s state-of-the-art simulcast facility, will open at 10 a.m. Saturday to accommodate Belmont Park’s 11:35 a.m. first-race post time.

Jockey Cornelio Velasquez Switches Tack Back to Gulfstream

Jockey Cornelio Velasquez has switched his tack back to Gulfstream, where he is named on four mounts Saturday.

The 49-year-old veteran, who has ridden 3,854 winners in North America, rode at Gulfstream Park last summer before venturing to Saudi Arabia. He returned to New York this year, riding 55 winners from 328 mounts.

The 2007 Championship Meet champion at Gulfstream will be represented by agent Matt Muzikar, who also books mounts for Spring Meet leader Tyler Gaffalione, who has been named on five mounts at Belmont Saturday.
