PASS THE GRAVY TAKES 39TH RUNNING OF JIM EDGAR FUTURITY

Holding off a determined run by Sir Anthony, favored Pass the Gravy scored in Saturday’s Jim Edgar Futurity at Hawthorne Race Course. Owned by Richard Ravin, V-Leaf Stables Inc. and Larry Rivelli, and trained by Larry Rivelli.
The Jim Edgar Futurity, for Illinois Conceived and/or Foaled two-year-olds bred in the state of Illinois , was contested on Hawthorne ‘s dirt track at the distance of a mile and a sixteenth.
Rider Rodney Prescott got the return call aboard Pass the Gravy. The pair had teamed up to win the local Sun Power in the talented colt’s previous start. Pass the Gravy has now won three of four career starts.
Content to track the pace early, Prescott urged his colt into contention coming out of the turn and took a slim lead between rivals, while racing three deep, with a quarter mile left to go. Sir Anthony, however, refused to go away and kept pace with the eventual winner, coming within a neck when they finally crossed the wire. It was another four and a quarter lengths back to Ghaaleb’s Winner.
Pass the Gravy earned $35,565 for the victory. His career earnings now stand at $97,986.
The ran the mile and a sixteenth in 1:46.73 after fractions of :23.60, :47.40, 1:13.00, and 1:39.64.

Sir Anthony paid $5.40 and $3.00
Ghaaleb’s Winner returned $2.40
