Three Oaklawn-raced horses, including Obliteration for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, are entered in the $350,000 Perryville Stakes (G3) for 3-year-old sprinters Saturday at Keeneland.
Probable post time for the Perryville, the seventh of 10 races, is 3:12 p.m. (Central). The 7-furlong Perryville also drew Oaklawn maiden special weight graduates American Man and Doublecents.
Obliteration (9-2 on the morning line) began his 3-year-old campaign with a 7 ½-length victory in the $150,000 Renaissance Stakes Jan. 3 at Oaklawn. Obliteration notched his third career stakes victory in the Chick Lang May 16 at Laurel. Both races were 6 furlongs.
Asmussen, Oaklawn’s all-time leading trainer, has tapped two-time Eclipse Award winner Flavien Prat to ride Obliteration. Obliteration is scheduled to break from post 11 in the 12-horse field.
American Man (20-1) was a front-running winner of his March 15 career debut at Oaklawn for trainer Dallas Stewart. Two-time Oaklawn riding champion Cristian Torres is named to ride American Man from post 5.
Doublecents (10-1) was a front-running 11 ½-length maiden winner May 2 at Oaklawn for trainer Brett Creighton.
Doublecents exits a 1 ½-length victory in the Harrods Creek Stakes at 7 furlongs Sept. 19 at Churchill Downs. Two-time Oaklawn riding champion Francisco Arrieta retains the mount on Doublecents, who is scheduled to break from post 10.
American Man and Doublecents each broke their maidens at 6 furlongs.
Asmussen won the Perryville in 2020 with Nashville and again in 2022 with Gunite. Both horses later raced at Oaklawn, with Gunite capturing its $150,000 King Cotton Stakes for older sprinters in 2023.
Finish Lines
Oaklawn’s stable area was scheduled to open Thursday. The track opens for training Wednesday in advance of the 2026-2027 meeting (Nov. 27-May 1). … Oaklawn stakes winner Benedetta is entered in the Endine Stakes for fillies and mares, 3 and up, at 6 furlongs Saturday at Delaware Park. Benedetta (racing or broodmare prospect) is scheduled to be sold at Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale. … Oaklawn-raced Army’s Marauder is entered in the Raven Run Stakes (G2) for 3-year-old fillies at 7 furlongs Saturday at Keeneland. … Three-time Oaklawn winner Western Warrior is entered in the Ontario Derby (G3) for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles Saturday at Woodbine. … Multiple Oaklawn winner Pride’s Prince is entered in the Wilmington Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at 6 furlongs Saturday at Delaware Park. Pride’s Prince has won four consecutive starts – all at Delaware Park – since finishing 10th in a first-level allowance sprint May 2, the final day of the 2025-2026 Oaklawn meeting, for co-owner/trainer Greg Compton. An Oaklawn regular and Arkansas native, Compton enters Thursday as Delaware Park’s third-leading trainer this season after winning a robust 38 percent of his starts (23 of 60). Compton won a two-way shake, or blind draw, to claim Pride’s Prince for $50,000 out of a maiden victory in March 2025 at Oaklawn. Pride’s Prince has never run in a stakes race.
