Breeders’ Cup Saturday Picks

Race 3 – BC Filly and Mare Turf G1
Looks like a two-horse race.

13 – Marley’s Freedom Undefeated since loss to Selcourt last March.
1 – Selcourt Has not raced in over seven months, but she is working well.
11 – Finley’sluckycharm A horse for the course. Faces some tough ones here.
8 – Mia Mischief Faces older for the first time.

Race 4 – BC Turf Sprint G1
Will try to beat the favorites

7 – Lost Treasure (Ire) The odds would make the reward worth the risk.
5 – Disco Partner She is my sentimental pick to win for top notch trainer.
11 – World of Trouble Undefeated sprinting on the grass.
1 – Ruby Notion Getting good at the right time.

Race 5 – BC Dirt Mile G1
Several strong contenders make for a tough handicapping task.

1 – City of Light Has the tactical speed to keep the favorite in range.
10 – Catalina Cruiser Not a lot of other speed makes him very dangerous.
7 – Firenze Fire A win here would not shock me. Tough three-year-old.
6 – Seeking the Soul If the pace gets hot this one will be there at the end.

Race 6 – BC Filly and Mare Turf G1
I should know better than to pick against Chad Brown.

3 – Wild Illusion (GB) Group 1 winner on Arc undercard. Big turn back in distance.
6 – Sistercharlie (Ire) Trained up to from BC off Beverly D win.
1 – Fourstar Crook If I like Sistercharlie, I have to like her stablemate, too.
10 – Magic Wand (Ire) Another Euro turning back in distance.

Race 7 – BC Sprint G1
Will try to beat the favorite in a deep field of terrific sprinters.

8 – Limousine Liberal Quality sprinter on his home court. No room for error.
9 – Roy H Jockey has never won a BC race.
5 – Imperial Hint Only loss this year was on sloppy CD track.
1 – Whitmore He’s a legitimate win contender.

Race 8 – BC Mile G1
Goldikova’s connections are calling to us.

4 – Polydream (Ire) Compromised trip in the G1 Prix de la Foret. Not this time.
14 – Mushashry (GB) Top connections for horse having a great year at the races.
7 – Expert Eye (GB) Juddmonte colt trained by O’Brien set to go for deep barn.
5 – Oscar Performance Will most likely set the pace. How far can he go with it?

Race 9 – BC Distaff G1
Two top fillies square off for first time.

2 – Abel Tasman Experience edge should provide the margin.
11 – Monomoy Girl Has dominated this year’s three-year-old distaff class.
10 – Blue Prize (Arg) On three race win streak and showing great form.
7 – Midnight Bisou Ran best race of career in last race against Monomoy Girl.

Race 10 – BC Turf G1
Rare treat to see Arc champ in the BC.

2 – Enable (GB) No indication that she is not ready.. Bad news for the others.
12 – Waldegeist (GB) If the favorite falters he should be coming fast at the end.
4 – Robert Bruce (Chi) Million winner is a player here.
3 – Channel Maker Mott trainee in great form.

Race 11 – BC Classic G1
Wide open affair this year due to absence of a dominant force.

7- West Coast Well rested world traveler as good as any in here on best day.
14 – Accelerate Can he break the jinx for John Sadler?
3 – Catholic Boy He’s made a believer out of me.
6 – McKinzie Remember when he was Baffert’s best Derby hopeful pre-Justify.
