A contentious field of eleven 4-year-olds and up are set to go in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special, and with a great chance for a nice exotics payout let’s take a look at the players.

PIMLICO

Race 12) 1&3/16ths Mile. Pimlico Special Match Series S. Grade III. Purse $250,000 FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS AND UPWARD
Post Time: ( 5:12)/ 4:12/ 3:12/ 2:12

2) Fearless (Pletcher/Ortiz, I.); Ghostzapper 5-year-old has put together back-to-back strong efforts readying for this, winning the Gulfstream Park Mile and a game second in the tough Oaklawn Handicap last month. Gelding has been facing the toughest of field’s and is ready to fire.

11) Last Judgment (Maker/Ortiz, J.); Congrats gelding also comes in off two fine outings, winning the G3 Challenger followed by a tough beat in the Ghostzapper at GP; a beaten favorite next out for trainer Mike Maker hits at 20 percent.

4) Enforceable (Casse/Velazquez); it’s been a year since this Tapit colt has put together back-to-back board finishes and with his last start a half-length third in the G2 New Orleans Classic you gotta wonder.

7) Harpers First Ride (Diodoro/Cohen); his win in this contest’s last running produced the field’s highest speed figure. Paynter 5-year-old exits a pair of hard Oaklawn starts so he’s battle ready for this and once again a legit win threat.

8) Cordmaker (Jenkins/Carrasco); Maryland-bred has strung together six straight board finishes all against stakes company, plus he showed in 2020’s running.

Selections: 2, 11, 4, 7, 8
